CASE STUDIES IN MANAGEMENT

This study module aims at strengthening student ability to understand and apply specific terms in the English language in the areas of economics and business management. The curriculum includes training of comprehension in English business terms. The emphasis is on English reading of business topics relevant in enterprise management. While this module does not intend to improve general language proficiency in English, it will help strengthen and deepen students’ knowledge of specialized expressions used in business English as these are featured in the study material provided.

INTERCULTURAL MANAGEMENT
With this module students will gain a deeper understanding of basic intercultural concepts and theories. They should be able to assess their own cultural background against different cultures and become aware of the cultural influences. Students will develop a deeper understanding of the cultural differences between regions and countries and will be able to examine and analyze these differences. Learning results are checked by means of a written exam. Passing the exam requires students to study and understand the theoretical aspects of intercultural management and to apply these to specific practical cases. The necessary theoretical and practical foundations are being conveyed through written study materials complemented by online lectures.
INTRODUCTION INTO ECONOMICS
This module introduces students to fundamental questions of economics. The module aims to explain basic microeconomic decisionmaking by households and companies as well as macroeconomic relationships and interdependencies. The objective is to incorporate micro- and macroeconomic conditions into operational decisions and to enable students to develop positions based on current economic choices and policy issues and to represent them independently.
BUSINESS MATHEMATICS
Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to master the basic mathematical skills they need for a degree in Business Administration. Students grasp and develop the mathematical methods and concepts presented in the course by applying independently and actively what they have learned in order to solve mathematical tasks. It will encourage students to apply analytical approaches to problem-solving in a broader, non-mathematical, context.
PRODUCTION & LOGISTICS
The module provides basic knowledge of production and logistics. In order to ensure effective and efficient production and logistics in an industrial company, different principles, methods and measures exist for planning, designing and controlling the production and logistics of industrial goods.
Furthermore, an experimental-scientific depth of the study contents is achieved through the practical application of the haptic business game (lean management/production and logistics control).
MARKETING TOOLS

In this module, the students get to know marketing and thus a central function of market-oriented business activities. After successfully completing the module, the students can apply the basic rules of marketing and consumer behavior in a practical task and document their result in the form of a term paper. The module is intended to familiarize students with the basics of market analysis, the strategic relevance of marketing, and the operational implementation of market-oriented corporate management.

Alternatively, students have the opportunity to choose the form of examination of the assignments within the framework of Study Live events.
ACCOUNTING & REPORTING
The Accounting module deals with questions about a company’s internal and external flow of services and how to display them. Students are enabled to provide relevant accounting information and to assess existing information. They learn to differentiate between different points of view: students approach some example cases from the perspective of a decision maker within an organization and in other cases they represent an external third party who analyses and systematizes information about economic success to make scientifically sound decisions on that basis.
LEGAL CONTEXT

Learn about Public Law (Constitutional foundations of public commercial law, Fundamentals of public economic law under European law, Fundamentals of International Economic Law, Subsidy and State aid Law,Reservation of Permission, Trade Law, Public commercial law in the logistics sector) and Private Commercial & Trading Law (Structure of jurisdiction, concept and function of law, Legal entities, Legal transactions, Contracts, private autonomy, contractual obligations, default of performance, overview of typical contractual obligations, incoming goods inspection).

Computer Science

Company Organisation

Students learn the theoretical basics of human resource management, controlling and corporate planning. They understand how the above-mentioned subjects interrelate. These disciplinary interdependencies are made clear and practiced on selected topics using practical case studies, such as corporate planning and the ideally linked quantitative and qualitative personnel planning or personnel controlling as a subarea of higher-level corporate controlling. The students receive an overview of modern forms of internal management of a company and can name and also assess the advantages and disadvantages of the individual forms.

Process Design
Students are given a basic understanding of the structure of information systems to support operational processes. The students are familiarized with the significance and possibilities of standard software solutions available on the market and learn about the significance of software applications developed individually for companies. They have a basic understanding of the use of ERP modules in the various operational functions and can apply them as required.Furthermore, students understand the basics of electricity, magnetism & optics and their practical application in an engineering context.
Process Execution
In the module process handling, the students learn, in addition to the necessary basic knowledge of the elements of machines and plants, to dimension the basics of transport, storage and commissioning techniques according to technical, planning and organizational aspects, to recognize weak points and to derive decisions from them. In simple application cases, the students have acquired sufficient specialist knowledge to participate in the stress- appropriate design of components, or to work out solutions and be available as competent discussion partners. This module trains analytical and structured work and requires interdisciplinary thinking from the students. The students are enabled to familiarize themselves with new problems and to build up existing knowledge and transfer it to other areas and/or components.
Best Practice
In this module, students acquire the skills to develop and present solutions to given tasks in team and individual work through the supervised planning and implementation of a limited project task. For this, students need excellent instrumental and systemic competences in both knowledge and project management. Through individual presentations and/or group events, you will expand skills to intensively lead the discourse on challenges with all participants and here, as a rule, also practice partners. You will work in independently organized teams and take responsibility for the evaluation and realization of the planned and communicated activities. The knowledge gained in the personnel management course can be directly linked to the project seminar. The students are sensitized to topics of motivation, conflict management and situational leadership.
Design Internal Value Creation
The student is able to grasp typical logistical systems and to recognize, classify and characterize problems in the planning of logistical systems. Through independent application of the methods and systems taught, the competence is conveyed to harmonies different logistical functional areas and to create an optimized overall system or to assess its condition. This includes holistic and cross-functional warehouse planning, picking technology planning, material flow and transport planning and relates to both processes and the selection of suitable technical trades. The students can explain and characterize procedures and problem- solving strategies.
Design External Value Creation
Students of the module Designing external value creation gain an understanding of the interaction of different components (infrastructure, vehicles, legal framework, economic efficiency, form of operation) and participants in inter-company processing (supply chain). The knowledge required for this, from different modes of transport and forms of processing to the difference between operational supply chain application systems and elements and processes of strategic SCM, is taught using case studies and holistic software-supported business games. This enables the students to describe complex supply chain systems, logistical networks and tasks from transport management and to understand their structures and design.
Further Development
In the Further Development module, students learn to determine the basics of modern automation concepts and to design them according to technical and economic criteria. They learn to analyze control and regulation principles, to develop suitable concepts and to design and select the necessary system components. They have the necessary knowledge of the basics of automation technology, independently recognize the automation potential or need and are able to understand the basics of information and communication technology in automation systems and to communicate module contents in appropriate technical language.
Practical Experiences
The company project serves to link the theoretically learned knowledge with the practice experienced in the company. The student research project also combines the requirements of scientific work on the basis of a concrete practical task. The colloquium aims at the summarizing presentation of the gained knowledge as well as the characteristic of critical reflection of one's own work.
Bachelor's Thesis
The Bachelor's thesis is the proof of academic work. Topics from the field of business administration are worked on independently and under supervision. The colloquium aims at a summarized presentation of the knowledge gained as well as the characteristic of critical reflection on one's own work.
